His Highness the Amir of the country, Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, may God protect and preserve him, received at Seif Palace this afternoon a number of esteemed members of the Al-Roumi family. They expressed their deep gratitude and immense appreciation to His Highness, may God protect him, for his generous efforts that culminated in the issuance of the Amiri pardon for their son, Salman Ahmad Al-Shamlan Al-Roumi. Mr. Mohammad Youssef Abdulrahman Al-Roumi recited a poem dedicated to His Highness the Amir, may God protect him, on the occasion of the United Nations granting him the title "Leader of Humanitarian Work." The poem reads: What glory you have written, O Sabah What great feats you have achieved, O champion What symbol, so openly described, Brings comfort to our people today What exceptional leadership you took, Your renown has spread with the wind May your honor and happiness last forever, For you are always a key to goodness The nations of the world have applauded you proudly, And have adorned you with a robe Kuwait today is elevated in your name, And our people stand tall under your protection The people are joyful, as you became a symbol Of generosity, and this is true success This is Kuwait — its sea offers pearls, Its land brings goodness, and after much struggle, its people are at peace Congratulations on this necklace of pride, And congratulations to us on having you as our Amir, Sabah.
